My Story

Childhood Memories

I was born and brought up in India in a traditional household with ancient Ayurvedic wisdom permeating every part of my family’s life. Time in nature has always been a stronghold in my life, and I also learned yoga at the age of five.

My love for traditional, homemade food and self-care rituals led me to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

That’s where I learned about supporting my body’s own ability to heal itself through a nourishing diet and lifestyle.

Traumatic Changes

Fast forward to 2011. The sudden death of my husband brought my life to gut-wrenching halt. There was no time to cope with the grief as I had to take on a demanding job in banking and play the roles of both parents for my young children.

Barely functioning while living with a constant state of stress, my body was giving up on me.

I developed severe acid reflux and digestion issues and was soon diagnosed with GERD. The doctors offered me prescription drugs, but all of them had long-term side effects and would only help manage the symptoms, not reverse the diagnosis.

My Healing Journey

I knew there must be another way.

The inherent wisdom that I had acquired in my childhood was reawakened and I started supporting my body with the natural remedies and diet while I pursued a deeper healing for my trauma. I learnt to eat what worked for my body and practiced what I could sustain as a lifestyle. The more I ate real foods prepared in ways that supported my individual body constitution, the more I progressed towards naturally healing. And the more I wanted to share it with others around me!

In 2012, I started offering workshops and traditional cooking lessons on how to use food as medicine.

My healing journey has been of spiritual growth and self-compassion complemented by many years of research and Ayurvedic practices. My body-mind transformation prepared me to welcome a wonderful person into my life, first as a friend, and then as my husband, when I got married again in 2015. He has been instrumental in supporting me to quit my corporate job and go back to school to study nutrition. I graduated from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in 2018, and today I am following my passion and practicing what I love doing full-time.

As I continue to grow and evolve, my passion to learn and serve my clients better motivated me to go to school again to qualify as a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner in 2021. Functional Nutrition is based on the principles of Functional Medicine, which is an upcoming field that is revolutionising how we do healthcare.

In my free time, you will find me in the kitchen creating a new recipe, walking my dog outside, or staying up-to-date on cutting edge research to further balancing our mind, body and spirit through nutrition and lifestyle.

Sharing the Blessings

leaf

I’ve benefitted from complete strangers helping me during my most difficult times. It has been very nourishing to feel their love and compassion. I’m so grateful to be where I’m today and in honor of the blessings I’ve received, I contribute 10% of my earnings towards feeding the homeless or needy.

If you’re a part of a community that feeds the homeless, please get in touch with me for my contribution. I would also like to contribute my time to help prepare nutritious meals for the homeless in our community.
